Both these teams are amongst the 3 or 4 favourite teams to win the World Cup. Pakistan’s story is similar to the previous World Cup. They were a team in turmoil when they entered the last World Cup in England and this time they have just had a lot of problems. This time they are looking good from day 1 – the Pakistani unit looked solid in their win against Bangladesh in their first match.

India play their 2nd and last group match of the ICC Twenty20 World Cup 2010 this evening against South Africa. South Africa will be playing their first match. India look the better team if you do a man to man comparison, but South Africa have been known to come across strongly in the bigest cricket tournaments of the world. They may have often faltered in the final, but the fact is that they make it to quite a few finals.
A number of Indians and South African have good experience of T20 cricket, thanks to the Indian Premier League. In Murali Vijay and Gautam Gambhir, India have a formidable opening combination. Vijay showed yesterday what he is capable of. Dhoni too made his intent clear.
But South Africa are no lightweights. In Jacques Kallis they have the world’s best all-rounder in their midsts. In all, we can expect a fiercely fought out match.

The Pakistan vs Bangladesh is all set to begin in another 30 minutes in the pictureque Beausejour Stadium in St Lucia. There is a lot of prediction all around of an upset tonight. I guess everyone is expecting Bangladesh to finally deliver on the big stage of cricket. Even I am.

In the second match of the opening day of the 3rd edition of the Twenty20 World Cup, the host nation West Indies will take on New Zealand at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.
If the first match is anything to go by, you can expect another low scoring thriller. Yes, Ireland are not quite up there in the cricket world’s scheme of things, but they have a history of major upsets in the World Cup which happened in West Indies. And though West Indies are the hosts they are not exactly setting the cricket world on fire.
