The India vs Sri Lanka 1st Test match began today at Ahmedabad, and it was a great day of cricket, with the match swinging from one end to the other as the day progressed. The first hour was completely dominated by Sri Lanka, what with India being reduced to 32 for the loss of four wickets. At that stage it looked like Sri Lanka would finally break their India jinx and record their first test win in this country. But that was then!

Yuvraj Singh and a surprisingly brisk Rahul Dravid then not just hung on at the crease, but compiled quick runs to take India out of the dire straits they were in. Yuvraj Singh was finally dismissed by Muralithara for 68 but the recovery had begun, and Dravid was still holding strong. In came Dhoni who too was in no defensive mood and it wasn’t too long before he completed his century. After scoring 110 runs, Dhoni departed but at the end of the day’s play Dravid was still standing with a magnificient 177 runs. India are on 385/6, and with Sri Lanka batting fourth, the home team is the one which now looks the favourite to win.

Later today, Sri Lanka will take on India at Colombo in what will be the first ever Twenty20 International Match in Sri Lanka. India will have the edge after their stupendous performance in the one-day series. Besides the Indian team is packed with players who are perfect for this slam-bang variety of cricket. Yusuf Pathan can be devastating for a couple of overs - and in a 20 overs match, that can sometimes make all the difference.

But that is exactly the reason why it will be difficult to predict an outcome of the match. T20 matches, as we saw during the T20 world cup and the IPL, can turn on their heads in as little as two overs. Sometime even one. A few lusty blows from the blades of Jayasurya or just about anyone else can tilt the match decisively, and from an average looking score of 125/5 in 14 overs a team can often reach a much healthier looking 150/5 in 16 overs! That’s the beauty of the format - a match is rarely ever dead. Therefore India will have a very slender edge, if any. So don’t miss watching the game live - should be great fun.

India vs Sri Lanka | 3rd ODI | Match Preview | Live Cricket Schedule

India vs Sri Lanka | 3rd One Day International | 3rd February 2009 | Live on Neo Cricket from 2:30 pm (India)

India are already 2-0 ahead in the five match ODI series againt Lanka having won both the matches so far comfortably.  Though the scorecard would suggest that India won the 2nd match by just 15 runs, it doesn’t tell the whole story. Sri Lanka were never really in the match - at one stage they had been reduced to 36 for 3 and though captain Jayawardene came back well into form forging a hundred run partnership with Kandamby, India looked in control throughout. Had Kapugedera hung on for a little longer with Kandamby things could have been different. But that didn’t happen. Kandamby played well for his 93 and remained unbeaten as he ran out of partners eventually.

The Indian ODI team led by Captain M.S. Dhoni will enter the 3rd ODI tomorrow at Colombo with a chance to equal India’s record for the maximum consecutive eight wins in one-day cricket. On current form, India will be definite favourites in the match and Sri Lanka will need to play out of their skins to stop India from equalling their own best record.

Only twice in the history of one day cricket have teams come back in a five match odi series from being 0-2 down to clinch the series. Will Sri Lanka be able to do anything like that? Watch the match live tomorrow to find out. And don’t forget to share valuable ‘live cricket streaming’ / cricket sopcasts/webcasts information - for both free and paid options with us. Cheers!
